Sinan Yilmaz
Research
Sinan’s research is focused on building compact, needle-like fluorescence imagers for volumetric imaging of deep brain regions. The form factor of these millimeter-long probes allows for simultaneous imaging across multiple cortical layers with large field of view while causing minimal tissue disruption. By incorporating optogenetic techniques, our devices achieve high spatiotemporal resolution and specificity, capable of detecting individual neuron action potentials within specific neural populations. In addition to building CMOS-based imagers at work, Sinan uses imagers built by Blackmagic (BPCC 6K) to shoot NYC street scenes.
