Research

Existing CMOS-based ultrasound arrays have resolutions around a millimeter due to limited transducer bandwidth and large transducer pitch. Volkan’s research focuses on development of ultrasound arrays for high resolution photoacoustic imaging applications, including analog/mixed-signal integrated circuit design, microfabrication of piezoelectric transducers on CMOS and conducting photoacoustic experiments. The goal of his PhD is to increase the integration density and bandwidth of ultrasound imagers, enabling higher-resolution neural imaging applications.
